The CINCO™ EDC Designed by Richard Rogers

1/1

Richard Rogers is a neighboring rancher who lives just down the road about 50 miles in Magdalena, New Mexico. Several years ago he designed a folding knife for use on the ranch which he named the CUATRO™. It was as functional as it was beautiful. However, Richard decided to “raise the bar” on himself to design another perfect blade which he called the CINCO™.

Like its predecessor, the Cinco is a truly superb flipper. An everyday carry which is discrete and unobtrusive, yet very, very useful. It incorporates a very fast opening spring assist which permits rapid opening of the blade with minimal effort.

The smooth deployment is assisted by the IKBS™ ball bearing pivot system that was invented by Flavio Ikoma and his friend Rick Lala of Korth. The "I" stands for Ikoma and the "K" for Korth. It speaks highly of the generosity of these two men that they allow all knife makers to use their system for free.

The blade of the Cinco is made from D2 tool steel. D2 semi-stainless / carbon steel is a wear resistant steel used for various cutting tools such a shears and planers. It was first developed around the time of World War II. Its major drawback is that when it becomes dull, it is harder to sharpen. However, it's worth the time and effort because of its excellent edge retention.
The combination stainless steel and G10 handle is lightweight and built to endure the toughest conditions one might face in the west. Add in the stone-wash finish of the blade and handle and you have one really beautiful, yet rugged knife.

The specifications of the Cinco are:
Blade Length: 2.89” (73.41 mm)
Blade Edge: Plain
Blade Steel: D2
Blade Finish: Stone-wash
Blade Thickness: 0.11” (2.77 mm)
Overall Length: 6.94” (176.23 mm)
Closed Length: 4.05” (102.87 mm)
Weight: 3.10 oz (87.88 g)
Handle: 2Cr13SS with G10 inlay
Style: Folding blade w Frame Lock

“Richard Rogers has refined his distinct philosophy about knives and tools over the years of overseeing his ranch: “You shouldn’t notice you’re carrying until you need it.” The Cinco™ hits the mark with a slim and unobtrusive design.” The MSRP of $79.99 is well worth it; but, it can be found on line for as low as $50... a real bargain.
